Zermatt: Skiing area of Zermatt - Skiing holiday in Zermatt
Ski resort - Ski area map -  winter holiddays

Spend in Zermatt, the Swiss canton of Valais, your skiing holiday in front of the unique scenery of the Matterhorn, the most-famous landmark of Zermatt and whole Switzerland. Moreover, the further 29 fourthousander peaks around Zermatt offer a breathtaking panorama.

Skiing and snowboarding
The altogether 183 marked kilometres of ski runs of Zermatt are distributed on three varied skiing areas, which are linked with each other. Each of the three areas offers from black runs, to mogul slopes through to pleasure slopes the right terrain to fulfil each demand.

The Sunnegga Rothorn area attracts above all families and pleasure skiers, which feel well on the sunny and moderate slopes.

At the Gornergrat you can likewise enjoy the wonderful landscape in conjunction with unique views, whereby on the northern slopes of Hohtälli and Stockhorn there are mogul fields for real expert skiers.

Skiing area information

The Klein Matterhorn ski area is the highest point you can reach. The ski runs over the wide glacier area to the Trockenen Steg are also for not so skilled skiers a very impressive experience. The descent from Klein Matterhorn down in the valley to Zermatt has with 17 km a considerable length.

From Klein Matterhorn via the Theodulpass you have the possibility to change over to the Italian ski area around Cervinia. With the coalition of Zermatt’s ski runs and the runs near Cervinia and Valtournenche on the Italian side the "Matterhorn Ski Paradise" covers an area with altogether 350 km of wonderful marked ski runs.

Winter sportsmen who prefer to enjoy offside from the mass tourism can find various offers for ski routes, variant skiing or also heli-skiing and heli snowboarding.

Snowboard specials
In all the three skiing areas snowboarders find special facilities, which promise much fun and action. At the Klein Matterhorn glacier lures the Funpark "Gravity Park" with superpipe, halfpipe, kicker and rails as well as a little below at the Trockenen Steg a further Funpark with kicker line, rails, corner and boxes. In the area of Rothorn /Sunnegga you find a Funpark with halfpipe and kickers at the Sunshine Bar next to the Blauherd lift station. At the Rotenboden between Gornergrat and Riffelberg lures halfpipe, tables, bumps, slides and quarterpipe.

Cross-country skiing
The offer of cross-country ski runs around Zermatt is rather modest. Together with the villages of Täsch and Randa this region comprises only 12 kilometres, which are mainly suitable as an extra or an offset to the alpine winter sports.
