Zermatt: Marvellous holidays in Zermatt
Holiday apartments – hotels –
accommodation – winter holiddays
Who
thinks of Zermatt automatically also thinks of the Matterhorn. The
village is used to many visitors, so that there are many hotels,
holiday apartments and chalets to stay in. Of these, a holiday
apartment is certainly the least expensive variant in Zermatt.
The village, located at 1620m above sea level, is surrounded by many
4000m high mountains and ideal for skiing and hiking. The Matterhorn
provides the village with its unique character. Yet although Zermatt
is famous, it is still reasonably quiet and has retained much of its
original charm. Zermatt with its many hotels, chalets and holiday
apartments is an ideal starting point for ski tours during the winter
and hikes of all levels of difficulty during the summer.

Zermatt
during the winter offers both skiers and snowboarders slopes of all
levels of difficulty. Try Gornergrat or Sunnegga with their sunny
slopes if you prefer easy levels, or go up the Klein Matterhorn
(3000m). You are sure to have fun everywhere. If you want to go to
Italy, enjoy the beautiful slopes down to Breuil-Cervinia. After a
busy day, relax in the hotels, holiday apartments or a lovely holiday
house. Gornergrat, Sunnegga and Rothorn provide great slopes. Sunnegga
– Blauherd – Rothorn: slopes that go up to 3103m, which are sunny and
easily accessible on the Sunnegga-Express, a subterranean cable-car.
There are snowmaking systems on almost all slopes, for example, from
Rothorn all the way down to Zermatt. The ski resort is directly linked,
by way of the Gant, with the second ski resort Riffelalp – Rotenboden
– Gornergrat – Stockhorn: at 3405m enjoy both easy slopes as well as
very steep ones on Stockhorn. There is a new railway that can carry
1100persons/hour from Gant to Hohtälli. Furi – Furgg – Schwarzsee –
Trockener Steg – Klein Matterhorn – Theodul: this is connected to the
Italian Cervinia (you need an extra lift pass) and the summer ski
resort Plateau Rosa that is open all year round.
In summer you will find great hiking trails in Zermatt that are well
marked. You can do anything up to a tour through the high Alps.
Whether, as an experienced hiker, you choose the route yourself or go
with the help of a local guide, is up to you.
You will find all types of accommodation in Zermatt: hotels of all
categories, from a simple inn to a 5 star hotel, from simple holiday
apartments to luxurious chalets or a comfortable holiday house.
