The Verzasca Valley is the valley in icino that has kept most of its traditional style. It is only a 30minute drive to Ascona on Lago Maggiore. Spend a relaxing holiday in the Verzasca Valley and stay in one of the hotels and holiday apartments. The Verzasca Valley is an ideal starting point for hikes as well as for visiting the almost Mediterranean countryside around Lago Maggiore and Lake Lugano. It is situated in the very south of Switzerland and retains something of its rural and traditional character. 
The area is great for hiking. You can simply go for a walk or go on challenging tours. Because of its popularity with visitors, there are a wide variety of hotels, chalets and holiday apartments available. One of the beautiful hiking routes is the one through the Verzasca Valley, which begins in Tenero and ends in Sonogno. The trail is mostly flat. It is quite long, but one can always take a rest in the villages along the way and return to Tenero or Locarno in the postal car that has many stops along the way. 
Most of the accommodation are holiday houses and apartments, which are often furnished in a rustic style.
