 Sils Maria is a very
picturesque village at 1804m above sea level in the heart of the upper
Engadin. There are many hotels, chalets and holiday apartments
available. The countryside is very varied: luscious meadows alternate
with scarce Alpine vegetation.
During the summer the upper Engadin is ideal for hiking. There are
many routes to take both for hiking and mountaineering. The mountain
railway takes you to different places in the region. You will have a
beautiful view of the panorama. There are also botanical and
mineralogical excursions to be done and you can learn a lot about
nature. You can enjoy the view of the Alps from many of the hotel
rooms and holiday apartments. In winter the upper Engadin turns into a
big ski resort. There are 350km of slopes for skiers and snowboarders.
Cross-country skiers, snowshoers and hikers will also find plenty to
