An enormous prehistorical
rockslide has created a unique terraced landscape between the
Vorab Glacier and the Vorderrheintal valley in the Swiss canton of
Grisons, where the villages of Flims, Laax and Falera lay
embedded.
Skiing and snowboarding in Flims-Laax
From all these three places you have comfortable access into the
largest coherent winter sports area of Switzerland with 220
kilometres of ski runs. However, the main access up to the Crap
Sogn Gion, you find starting from the holiday estate of
Laax-Murschetg as well as from Flims. Expert skiers find thrills
on the Vorab Glacier and on the Cassons as well as in the yellow
marked backcountry terrain, since the Alpine Arena enjoys an
excellent reputation as freeride region.

Somebody, who loves mogul slopes, can rage oneself out on the upper
part of the glacier, the “Sattelabfahrt”. Not quite so steep but still
rapid are the fantastic descents from the Crap Sogn Gion. Intermediate
ski runs are likewise found on the Grauberg as well as on the sunny
slopes between Foppa and Naraus. In between there are again and again
easy ski runs, which also beginners and families can manage well.
Snowboard specials
Flims-Laax-Falera is a real paradise for snowboarders. From the three
halfpipes of the region the one at the Crap Lang is even the largest
halfpipe of the world and many professional snowboarders train in
Flims-Laax-Falera due to the optimal training conditions. The snowpark
at the Crap Sogn Gion attracts with two monsterpipes, railpark with
rails and mailboxes, several kickers and a 600 m boardercross. A
further funpark with monsterpipe, railpark, mailbox and table line is
situated on the Vorab Glacier. This one is prepared however only in
the pre-season.
Cross-country skiing
In the region you find 60 kilometres of mostly double tracked
cross-country ski runs to practice classical and skating technics.
Only on the high altitude trail near Bagis you can reach higher
altitude, otherwise the cross-country ski runs are found mainly in the
lowlands, although amidst a wonderful landscape.
