The Engelberg skiing area
Ski runs, cross-country ski runs,
snowboard slopes, skiing holidays
|
 |
In the former monastery village of
Engelberg in Central Switzerland you experience perfect winter
sports pleasure towered by the impressive summit of the Titlis
(3,238 m).
Skiing and snowboarding in Engelberg
The Engelberg skiing area with its altogether 82 kilometres of
slopes stretches over two opposite sides of the village. South of
the valley you find the by far larger area beneath the Tiltlis
with altogether 70 kilometres of ski runs, distributed on the
glacier area and around Engstlenalp, Jochpass, Trübsee and
Gerschnialp. On the glacier less experienced winter sportsmen
should confine oneself to the first part and leave the second very
demanding part to the professionals. |

The steep descent on the "Laub-Flanke” with an inclination of 45
degrees is a real challenge and while descending from the Titlis
summit to Engelberg you cover 2000 m of altitude difference on 12 km.
Around Stand, Jochstock and Trübsee skiing is somehow more comfortable
and beginners and families surely feel well in the areas around
Engstlenalp and Gerschnialp.
North of the valley extend further 12 kilometres of slopes around the
gentle alpine pastures of the Brunni. In this sunny area with broad
view you can move stress-free, so that pleasure skiers, families and
also beginners will get their money’s worth.
Snowboard specials
Depending upon season, different parks are at the snowboarder’s
disposal. In winter the terrain park Titlis in the Jochpass/Engstlen
area offers jumps, rails and turns. A popular meeting place is
"Surfers Paradise" near the mountain hut Jochpass. In summer the
snowboard happening is shifted onto the glacier. There you find the
terrain park Titlis with halfpipe, kickerpark and rails.
Cross-country skiing
Cross-country skiers can rage themselves out on the wonderful
cross-country ski run Engelberg-Herrenrüti with a length of 25 km.
Between Gerschnialp and Untertrübsee you find further 10 km of groomed
cross-country ski trails, 4 km along lake Trübsee. And the Sporting
Park offers a 1,5 km long floodlight slope so you can enjoy this
winter sport also in the evening.
