 Bettmeralp is located on a
sunny, car-free plateau. At about 2000m above sea level the village
lies at the foot of the Bettmerhorn. Bettmeralp has grown in the last
few years yet without losing the Valaisian sociability. The hotels and
holiday apartments all fit in well with the village’s ambiance.
In winter Bettermalp offers an
extended ski resort including Riederalp and Kühboden (Aletsch), where skiers can
find all levels of difficulty. Comfortable hotels as well as
inexpensive holiday apartments abound. The infrastructure of the lifts
has also been extended to cater to the needs of the growing number of
visitors.

During the summer Bettmeralp
together with Riederalp and the whole Aletsch region is the strating
point for many lovely hikes that include the fascinating panorama of
the over 4000m high mountain summits of Switzerland. Glacier hiking on
the 24km and thus longest glacier of the Alps is a unique experience –
but to be recommended only with a guide.
