The Zugspitze is the highest mountain of Germany. The
huge mountain rises exactly 2962 meters above sea level and lies at
the west end of the Wettersteingebirge only few kilometres southwest
of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. With a modern cable car the summit can be
reached within only 10 minutes. Arrived at the summit the spectator
will have a splendid panoramic view.
In winter skiers and snowboarders can be pleased about a wonderful
skiing area. Different ski runs do not leave any desires unfulfilled.
Due to the altitude snow is guaranteed into April. The ski runs go up
to 3,000 meters at the Zugspitz Glacier. Along with many other
activities, like ski tours, cross-country skiing and winter hikes you
can spend here a relaxed winter holiday.
In summer the nature lover finds a beautiful hiking paradise. There
are many hiking trails at the programme, from easy to demanding you
can try out everything. Along all trails you will enjoy the wonderful
mountains and a fantastic panorama.
In this region all possibilities leisure sports are available. There
are numerous accommodations in the villages e.g. of Grainau and
Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Simple through to luxury hotels and holiday
