The Feldberg gets its character from the colourful meadows and rare Alpine plants as well as its old forest with lots of animals. The Feldberg has been a nature reserve area since 1937 because of the many rare plants and animals to be found here. Being 42km in size, the Feldberg is the largest nature reserve of Baden-Wurttemberg. St. Wilhelm’s Hut, which has a view of the Schauinsland, lies at 1423m and is the highest mountain hut of the Black Forest. On good days, you can see the Alps. You can do the mountain bike tour of the „Feldberg huts“ starting from the “Haus der Natur“, which offers parking. You will have a great view into the Wiesental. Around the Feldberg there are many slopes ranging from beginners to World Cup ones. On the Feldberg itself are the ski resorts of Seebuck, Grafenmatt and Fahl of 25km in length all together. The lifts in Altglasshütten, Falkau and Neuglashütten are ideal for families. You can also enjoy the scenery on the cross-country skiing trails. Since 2001, nine tourist businesses have been awarded the Certificate of Quality Service of Baden-Wurttemberg. Many hotels and guesthouses offer cosy rooms.
