Val
d'Isere, the venue of the World Alpine Skiing Championship 2009, is
the oldest and one of the most renowned ski resorts of France. The ski
areas of Val d'Isère and Tignes form together the Skicircus „Espace
Killy“ (300 km of ski runs & 74 lifts), which is named after the

This outstanding top ski area with one of the most attractive glaciers
of the Alps extends over three mountains and two valleys.
The ski area with its 140 snow-guaranteed descents let the heart of
each skier beat faster and ranks among the first-class French winter
sports areas.
Skiing and snowboarding
The ski runs of the “Espace Killy“ offer various possibilities both to
beginners and professionals.
For beginners and pleasure skiers there are many blue ski runs around
Tignes-Le-Lac with wide and gentle slopes. Furthermore the wide
motorway-style slopes between Rocher de Bellevarde and the Col de
Fresse and finally the highlight, the Génépy ski run of the Grande
Motte glacier to Tignes.

300 km of great pleasure skiing awaits the professional. Around
Solaise and Rocher de Bellevarde you find mogul slopes and black ski
runs. Two glacier ski areas with snow guaranteed all the year round.
The highest cable car station ends on the 3456 meters high Grande
Motte and provides marvellous glacier descents. The difficult ski
runs, which contribute to the special attraction for professionals,
are distributed over the entire ski area. So for example, the wide
untouched deep snow slopes of the Vallon de la Sache are a real treat.
The famous Olympic descent "Face Olympique de Bellevarde" inspires
each lover of extreme steep slopes and the World Cup descent to
Daille, the "Coupe you Monde", is particularly popular with fans of
long curves. Alpinists with good condition can rage oneself out on the
up to 5,5 km long ski runs "Verte" in Val d´Isere and "Génépy" in
Tignes.
Snowboarding
The snowboarder finds two snowboard parks in Val d'Isere and Tignes
with 120 and 70 meters long half-pipes, rails, big airs and quarters.
The snowboard park in Val d'Isere belongs to the biggest of the Alps.
In Space Kelly freerider find numerous slopes with an apparently
infinite number of variants, especially from the Glacier de Pissailles
down to Le Foret.
Cross-country skiing
In Val d'Isere the cross-country skier finds 44 km and in Tignes 20 km
of well-groomed cross-country ski runs, which are due to the high
altitude very snow guaranteed. The most demanding cross-country ski
run of the region leads over 6,5 km into the Machet Valley.
