Skiing holiday in the Chamonix ski area
Skiing holidays – slopes – cross-country ski runs

The valley of Chamonix, at the foot of the Mont Blanc, is still a dream destination for alpine-sportsmen. Those who prefer deep snow and off-piste areas feel here like being in seventh heaven.

Skiing and snowboarding
Five separate ski areas, which are not interconnected due to the wild landscape shapes, are available to the alpinists. Thus, you need to decide for one of the ski areas already in the morning, since there are nearly endless variations of high-alpine ski tours and marked off-piste descents.
Brévent: the house mountain of Chamonix offers easy to intermediate ski runs. A gondola lift enables the connection to the neighbouring area of La Flégère with its sunny and intermediate ski runs. From here you find descents down to the valley to Chamonix as well as to Les Praz.

The most varied and also the most demanding possibilities you find in the area of Grands Montets with its wide ski runs, vast mogul fields and steep slopes. After fresh snow has fallen lovers of deep snow skiing find here paradisical conditions. Furthermore there are fantastic freeride slopes.
The region Le Tour-Domaine de Balme with its gentle ski runs is relaxed pleasure for families and pleasure skiers.

Also very family-suited is the area of Les Houches-Prarion, where snow is guaranteed thanks to the snow making machines. The spectacular 20 km long descent from Aiguille du Midi through the Vallée Blanche (the White Valley) in the middle of breath-taking seracs is an absolute highlight. However, because of the alpine risks you should do the downhill ski run only with a guide.
For children there are ski kindergartens and reserved ski areas.

Snowboarding
The possibilities for snowboarders are excellent, especially in the area of Grands Montets with its countless unprepared slopes.
Above the middle station Lognan you find a snowboard park with half-pipe.

Cross-country skiing
Between Chamonix and Argentière there are 60 km of cross-country ski runs of different levels of difficulty through the forests in the valley of the river Arve. In Les Houches are further four cross-country ski runs available.
