Skiing holiday in the Alpe d´Huez ski area
In Alpe d'Huez, situated at the foot of the Pic Blanc, sun is shining
more often than average and inspires its guests with pleasant
temperatures and high snow reliability.
The ski area with numerous easy to intermediate ski runs is ideal for
beginners. It forms the heart of an imposing ski region at the Grandes
Rousses massif, to which also the places Auris-en-Oisans,
Oz-en-Oisans, Vaujany, Villard-Reculas and La Garde belong.
Here skiers with most different levels of experience find altogether
248 kilometres of descents, 121 ski runs and 84 lift facilities. From
the 3330 metres high summit of the Pic Blanc you enjoy a fantastic
view and at good sight it is possible to overview a fifths of France.
Skiing and snowboarding
Alpe d'Huez with its numerous practice lifts and easy to intermediate
ski runs is very ideal for beginners. Also professionals get their
money’s worth, since they find 14 km of black runs, which represent a
real challenge also for very skilled snowboarders and skiers.

In the entire area of the Grandes Rousses massif you find altogether
121 ski runs with up to 2300 meters altitude difference, gentle slopes
for pleasure skiers as well as many red and challenging black runs,
which make this area an El Dorado for professionals. Who is looking
for the special kick, can venture on the steep descent "Le Tunnel",
which connects the Sarenne Glacier with the Pic Blanc and belongs
together with the Pordoischarte in South Tyrol to the two most
exciting descents of the Alps.
The descent over the Sarenne Glacier is with 16 km the longest of
Europe.
From the summit of the Pic Blanc seven routes are offered towards
Clavans or to the Lac de Grand Maison, from where you are brought back
by helicopter.
Ideal for families are the ski kindergartens in all places of the
region with childcare for children from the age of 6 months. Those who
are still fit in the evening can twice a week in Alpe d’Huez lengthen
the day on a 900 metres long slope by the light of 200 headlights.

Snowboard Thomas Krief, one of the best young talented snowboarder, comes from
Alpe d'Huez. There you find a funpark at Lac Blanc with boardercross,
a 120 meters long half-pipe, whoops and jumps and a beginner terrain,
which let the heart of each snowboarder beats faster. Freerider enjoy
the steep slopes at the flanks of the Pic Blanc.
Cross-country skiing
In Alpe d'Huez cross-country skiers are attract by 55 km of ski runs,
on which partly also skating is possible. In the entire area of the
Grandes Rousses massif with 110 kilometres of ski runs the
cross-country skiers get spoilt with circuit trails around frozen
mountain lakes as well as with trails groomed for classic skiing
through snow-covered forests.
In Oz-en-Oisans there is a gondola lift, which brings the
cross-country skier to ski runs on the plateau area of the Petits
Rousses at an altitude of 2100 meters.
