High above the Tyrolean Paznaun Valley
stretches one of Austria’s largest skiing area: The Silvretta Ski and
Funsport Arena, which is linked to the Swiss tax-exempt area of
Samnaun.
Skiing and snowboarding
The Silvretta Ski Arena and the area of Samnaun offer a variety of
altogether 230 kilometres of ski runs to suit each taste and ability.
The heart of the skiing area is the Idalp. Here the cable cars arrive
from the valley and ski runs lead in all directions. Via the Idjoch
you reach into the area of Samnaun, where the sunny bowl of Alp Trida
is luring you. Real expert skiers will be attracted to the difficult
northern slopes at the Pardatschgrat or the Höllenkar. There are also plenty of deep powder snow slopes as
well as mogul fields at the Velilleckbahn, the Gampenbahn and at the
Palinkopf. A special pleasure is the dream descent through the
Velilltal valley. Most slopes in the region are moderately difficult,
however, there are also easy as well as difficult ski runs distributed
all over the area. |

Snowboard specials
In Ischgl snowboarders can enjoy a
Snowpark for
snowboarders and
freestyle-ski
fans.
Cross-country skiing
The offer of cross-country ski runs in Ischgl is, however, not as
large as for the alpine skiers, but yet there are scenic cross-country
trails at your disposal, which are due to the altitude very snow
secure. The wonderful Trisannaloipe (5 km) connects Ischgl with Galtür
and joins there the East-Trail (8.7 km). The West-Trail (6.6 km) is a
circuit around Galtür and the three picturesque high-altitude
cross-country ski runs Bieler Höhe, Zeinisloipe and Jamtalloipe
together contribute also ca. 20 km to the cross-country trail system.
