 The Austrian health and ski resort Bad Gastein is
situated in the southern parts of the Salzburg region in the upper
Gastein Valley, with fresh mountain air and fog-free scenery. In the
small city, 1,002 m above sea level, many beautiful hotels, holiday
apartments and chalets have been settled.
 In Bad Gastein you find the optimal holiday offer with a large variety
of relaxation and active programmes. Here you also find the
world-famous mineral springs and radon galleries of the Gasteiner
Thermal Spring world. Bad Gastein has altogether 18 radioactive
thermal springs up to 47 °C. The skiing region Gastein Valley
comprises the skiing areas Dorfgastein, Bad Hofgastein, Badgastein and
Großarl in the parallel Großarl Valley. In these places you find each

Valley has the right hill in store regardless of your ability level: 5
broad ski areas reaching as high as 2700 m above sea level, added to
which are deep-snow and moguls hills, carving and freeride slopes, for
a ski vacation filled with boundless variety. Some 50 cable cars and
ski lifts with a total of over 220 kilometers of superbly groomed,
snowy slopes make Gastein Valley one of the most attractive ski areas
in the entire province.
Sportgastein, located at high-alpine
elevations, is a true dream for freeriders, a place where the
backcountry is wide and open. The optimal altitude and broad
snowmaking coverage guarantee exceptional snow conditions from the end
of November until late April. One special attraction is the 140
meters-long suspension footbridge on the Stubnerkogel, which hangs
over a 28 m chasm and, at 2400 m above sea level, is the highest such
bridge in Europe.
 Away
from the busy slopes, silent side valleys and forests in Gastein
Valley invite you to embark on enchanting snowshoe hikes, ambitious
cross-country ski tours or even a delightful sleigh ride, promising a
different brand of wintery fun in the snow.
Around 100 kilometers
of winter hiking paths, as well as numerous mountain huts with a warm,
home-like atmosphere, add the finishing touches to an array of evening
opportunities ranging from rustic hospitality to the jet-set luxury of
a casino.
