The canton of Vaud
Holiday apartments in the canton of
Vaud - hotels - chalets - accommodations - ski holidays - summer
holidays, ski areas in the canton of Vaud
The canton of Vaud is located in the west of Switzerland between
the famous Lake Geneva and Lake Neuchâtel. The canton is also called
“Waadtland” (German: “Kanton Waadt”). There are four scenically
different regions: The Alps region, the areas around the two lakes,
the Jura and the centre of the region.
The Alps region offers various holiday possibilities. The highest
point is the mountain group of Les Diablerets peaking at 3210 meters,
in English also called “the devil’s horn”. From here you have a
breath-taking view on the Mont Blanc. In winter you can marvellously
practice skiing, cross-country skiing, tobogganing or enjoy nature on
leisurely winter hiking tours. On the glacier you can ski also in
summer.
The lake regions are traditional holiday destinations. Particularly
famous is Lake Geneva and the regions around Lausanne, Montreux and
Vevey, the so-called Vaud Riviera. Here you can spend an excellent
beach holiday, go walking, bicycling and hiking or visit one of the
interesting places.
The Jura region offers the possibility to spend a beach holiday, for
example on lake "Lac de Joux" in the high valley of Vallée de Joux, as
well as various kinds of winter sports. Everywhere in the canton there
is a large offer of hotels, chalets and holiday apartments.
