Hiking and mountain biking around Lake Como - hikes, hiking tours
Lake Como - piece of jewellery in Upper
Italy - book your holiday house online

The surrounding area of Lake Como offers beautiful routes for
hikers, walkers and mountain bikers. The nature, rich in contrast and
partly unspoilt, the pleasant climate and the mountains with their
wonderful views make this region the highlight for all sportily active
ones. You can undertake relaxed walks on the lakeshore or more
ambitious hikes, lasting from only few hours through to one-day trips
or tours of several days. The ideal time for hiking is in spring and
autumn, but also winter is a good time for hiking and in summer, when
there are hot temperatures on the lake the mountains offer a pleasant
climate.
Mountain bikers find numerous interesting routes in the surrounding
area of Lake Como, which are ideal both for beginners and advanced
bikers. Also mountain climbers can pick from an embarrassment of
riches, as there are tours of all degrees of difficulty and also very
demanding via ferratas. Especially the region around Lecco and around
Mandello is very popular with mountain climbers, since there are
marvellous steep mountain walls and numerous via ferratas. Everywhere
in the mountains around Lake Como you find pretty mountain huts, where
you can stop for a bit to eat.

The historical Strada Regina
This wonderful route is divided into 10 sections and runs from the
south of Como to Chiavenna at the northern end of the lake.
This road existed already in the Roman period and was probably an
important trade route.
You can discover each of the sections about one day, whereby the pure
walking time lasts only ca. 4 hours, thus, there is enough time to
take a rest and enjoy the overwhelming nature. You can hike the
sections also severally and at the end of the day go back to the
starting point using the available buses or ships. Who has a very good
condition, can combine also two of the sections and master them on one
day.
Here are the individual sections of the tour:
1. Como - Brienno
2. Argegno - Ossuccio
3. Ossuccio - Lenno
4. Lenno - Menaggio
5. Menaggio - Rezzonico
6. Rezzonico - Dongo
7. Dongo - Domaso
8. Domaso - Ponte del Passo
9. Ponte del Passo - Fontanedo
10. Fontanedo - Chiavenna
The Sentiero del Viandante from Como to Chiavenna
The Sentiero del Viandante follows old traffic routes along the
eastern shore of Lake Como. It offers a wonderful route on which you
can hike for four days. This four-stage hiking tour is not particular
difficult, however you should wear good shoes.
Here are the individual sections of the tour:
1. Abbadia Lariana - Al Verde
2. Al Verde - Varenna
3. Varenna - Dorio
4. Dorio - Colico
Easy hiking tour from Garzeno to Rifugio Mottafoiada
You can undertake this mountain hike with the whole family. Starting
from Garzeno you hike about 2 hours to the mountain hut Mottafoiada.
On top awaits you wonderful nature and beautiful views.
Hiking tour on the Monte Legnone
This hiking tour rewards you with a fantastic panoramic view. The
Monte Legnone rises 2400 meters above Lake Como. Who has reached the
top won’t regret the efforts.
Several particularly beautiful mountain biking tours:
From Colico to Legnoncino
This tour is very varied and partly challenging. The paths are
completely different, partly forest paths, partly trenches and rock
passages. Most stretches of way are well driveable and there are only
few short sections where the bike has to be carried.
From Lake Como to Passo San Jorio
This tour on the western shore of Lake Como offers fantastic views on
the eastern shore. You can see the tributary of the river Adda from
above.
The route is partly tarred, partly gravel path and forest road. On our
way you have again and again a wonderful view onto the lake.
